Fact 1: Hundreds of distributors world over are looking for content.
Fact 2: Hundreds of film-makers/screenplay writers are looking for a distribution/ development deal
Fact 3: Majority of film-makers don’t get a deal
We are looking to change this irony.
Hollywood International CineFest partnered with studio executives, distributors and filmmakers to understand and address this irony. We believe that the key to success is being at the right place, at the right time and with the right proposal. The first iteration of festival received overwhelming response and 9 of our submissions (8 from 1st time film makers) found their distribution home.
Ask yourself- is going to Disney with a “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” type of movie good idea? Would Michael Bay be interested in Requiem for a Dream kind of movie? Would a distributor who specializes in small budget movie be interested in your multi-million dollar proposal?
At Hollywood International CineFest our focus is to match the right project with right distributor and the right platform. We carefully look at all projects submitted to us and submit for a distribution or a development deal.
We understand that as a filmmaker your main focus is to keep your creative juices flowing. But movie-making also a business. Whether it is a feature, a TV series, a documentary or short, we need to know the market and plan our next moves accordingly.
In 2017, a total of 9 distribution/development deals were made!
If you didn’t get distribution by June 24th, we will still keep your submission under consideration and will reach out to you when there is a distribution interest in your project.
Your journey with HIFF never ends..
If you have been to AFM, Cannes or EFM, then imagine the same events, organized exclusively for our finalists and winners.
Day 1: June 23, 2018
On June 23, 2018 we will organize two sessions of screening of the winners of distribution deals in the feature film category and also selected shorts at AMC Sunset 5, 8000 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA
HICF will submit the finalists of all categories to the distributors interested in movies of that genre and language. A day prior to the announcement of the awards, we will have a special event to connect the film-makers to the distributors, agents, lawyers and financiers.
Though HICF will be sending the finalist to distributors ahead of this event, the goal of this event is to provide an opportunity for all filmmakers to meet all distributors partnering with HICF.
Day 2: June 24, 2018
Same as day one, we will organize two sessions of screening of the winners of distribution deals in the feature film category and also selected shorts at AMC Sunset 5, 8000 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA.
In addition, we will organize special break out sessions and 1:1 introductions with selected film-makers and distributors.
We will have a meeting room where the filmmakers and distributors can watch (or re-watch) the films that they are interested in and discuss future collaborations.
The goal of these breakout sessions is to enable the filmmakers and the distributors talk about the details of any distribution offer and marketing & awareness plan.
